Similar to the recent storm swept through the northwest the night before, City blew United away at the Etihad. It was a convincing 3-0 win for their manager's side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that clearly signaled their title credentials as they consolidated their position at the league summit.

Successive Defeats for Manchester United

This scoreline signalled successive WSL losses for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since May 2024, putting them a significant margin off the league leaders with their title hopes in serious doubt.

Manchester United's capacity to manage league and continental soccer with a thin team has been a widely debated subject since they secured entry to the European competition. Regrettably for the visitors, they looked fatigued throughout, the memorable win against the French side clearly having taken a toll.
